Yin Yang Yoga

What is Yin Yang Yoga?

Allow your body to open up and find a balance in your practice with the newest yoga class introduced at CitySport.

Yin Yang yoga is a Taoist-inspired yoga class that aims to restore your inner harmony and piece. Founded in the late 1970s by the American martial arts champion Paulie Zink, Yin Yang Yoga combines meditation with slow and vigorous sequences, helping you to achieve flexibility, mindfulness and softness in your tendons, fascia and ligaments.

Is Yin Yang Yoga for me?

The Yin part of the class is the balancing practice for your yang style of yoga; it is yoga for the joints not the muscles. Yin asanas are seated postures, which are held for up to five minutes, applying constant gentle pressure to the ligaments while softening and releasing tension in the muscles.

The Yang part of the class explores the more active style of practice, which resemble Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow yoga. It targets the muscles that we engage to hold the bones closer together protecting the joints.

Age and fitness level

This yoga practice is suitable for beginners or more experienced yogis regardless of their shape, size, age or ability. Please notify our qualified teachers if you have any injuries or medical conditions so that they can provide modifications of postures.
