What are your Opening hours?
We are open from 7am-10pm on weekdays and 10am-5pm on weekends and bank holidays. We are closed over the Christmas period each year, from 24th December to 1st January (inclusive).
Can I take my belongings into the gym?
Small personal items such as phone/towel/water bottles can be taken in, but we have lockers in each of our changing rooms where you can keep your belongings.
How do the lockers work?
The lockers work through padlocks. We have coded padlocks available for £5 at Reception. Alternatively, you can bring your own. If you want to use the small valuables lockers, please just ask for a key from reception.
I’m not a student, can I use the facility?
You do not have to be a student to use our facility! For the full list of our public activities, please visit our Activity Programmes or Memberships pages.
Do I need to be a member?
Members get the best rates and access, but anyone can access CitySport as a user. Either purchase a Day Pass at reception or register with Pay As You Go account to access app's via the app!
I’m new/not active, can I still take part in the gym?
We offer free gym 1:1s with our Fitness Instructors who provide both Inductions and Workout Guide for all members to help ease you into the gym. All our exercise classes are fully inclusive and our Instructors adjust the session to meet your needs. Just book via the app.
I have a health condition, can this be accommodated?
All users of CitySport must be fit and healthy to undertake exercise. If you have any concerns or have been referred by a GP to start exercising, you must inform a Fitness Instructor.
What facilities do you have?
A double tier gym, 6 court sports hall, and 5 studios. For the full list of CitySport facilities, please visit our Facilities page.
Can I bring my bike or scooter into the facility?
No, we do not allow bikes or scooters in CitySport. There are bike racks just outside the facility.

What devices can run the app?
The app is available on both Apple App Store and Google Play stores.
I got a new phone and my membership isn’t letting me into CitySport, what do I do?
If you have purchased a new phone, you just need to come to reception for us to reset the device associated with your account.
How can I mute notifications on the app?
You can mute notifications “within conversations” on settings within the app.
I'm having problems booking a session as it says I have something in my basket. What do I do?
If you have added something to your basket and then not paid for it, the app wont allow you to book something else. The easiest way to reset this is to simply log into your account via a web browser and remove the item from your basket.
How do I log into the app?
Once you have downloaded the app, and selected CitySport, press "My profile" on the homepage and it'll ask you to log in. You will only need to log in once. If you don't yet have a membership, go to "Memberships" to create an account and purchase one.
Memberships
I’m not a student, can I still have a membership?
Anyone can be a member at our facility! For the full list of our other membership types and prices, please visit our Membership page.
What are your membership prices and do you do any discounts?
We offer discounted memberships for students, staff, and members of the public that qualifiy for concessions. For the full list of our membership types and prices, please visit our Membership page.
Can I have a free trial day or guest passes for a friend?
We sometimes run offers throughout the year, providing free guest passes or access. If you don't have one of these, we do £10 Day Passes for one off visits.
Do you have a cancellation period for Direct Debit memberships?
All our Direct Debit membership have a minimum 12-month term. After this, you enter into a monthly rolling contract. Just give one month's notice beyond the end of your 12-month term or any point afterwards.
What do the memberships include?
Access varies depending on membership term and length. All memberships provide gym access during our opening hours, free class bookings, no court guest fees, and 14 day priority booking. For all other benefits, please visit our Memberships page.
Facilities and Activities
How do I book an activity?
The easiest way to book an activity is via our CitySport app. If you don't have the app, you can book via our web portal or speak to a staff member at reception.
Can I attend any activity?
Some of our sessions and classes are restricted to particular groups: students, staff, women's only, 60+.
Can I bring a friend when I book a court?
Of course! If they are a member, they will just swipe in with you. Any non-members will need to pay a Guest Fee of £2 to enter your court booking with you.
What time can I access CitySport?
Members can enter at anytime during our opening hours. Non-members or those here for third party bookings can only be granted entry 15-minutes before the start of the session.
Can I make a block booking or book multiple courts?
If you wish to make a block booking or book for an event, you can email your request to sportbookings@citystgeorges.ac.uk and we will send you a booking form.
Can I book a court without having equipment?
Yes! We have equipment available for you to hire. Each item is just £2. Please note you'll have to leave an ID at reception as a deposit whilst you are using the equipment.
How busy is the gym?
The gym busyness fluctuates throughout the day and at different times of the year. However, peak hours are typically between 5-7pm. You will still be able to complete your workout during this time!
University Programmes
What activities are there for students?
We have activities at every level; from gym access, bespoke health programmes, and exercise classes to drop-in sport sessions and dedicated student-athlete support! Visit our University Activities page for the details.
Why are some sport activities run by the Student Union?
We work in partnership with the SU to maximise the offer for our students. The SU run provide some drop-in sport sessions and Club Sport training and matches. If you have any questions about these sessions, please email them.
I’m a Student not based on the Clerkenwell Campus, can I still use CitySport?
Yes! Our activities are open to all City St George's students. Not all sessions run at CitySport either so take advantage in any and all programmes we offer!
What is BUCS UNIversal Gym?
The BUCS UNIversal Gym membership allows you to access over 80 university gyms across the UK, 12 being in London. Students - and staff - with annual memberships can access this scheme.
Do you have a women's only gym?
The gym is open to everyone at all hours, however, we have dedicated women's only sport sessions and group exercise classes throughout the week. Find out more here.
